'PETERLOO MASSACRE' EXHIBITION BRANDING

In 2019 The People's History Museum hosted an exhibition to commemorate the 200th Anniversary of the Peterloo Massacre. I was asked to create an identity for this exhibit; this included a name, a logo and any other branding and promotional materials.

I took the name 'Rise Like Lions' from the famous poem 'The Masque of Anarchy' by Percy Bysshe Shelley, which was inspired by the events of Peterloo. I felt that this name captured the spirit and tenacity of the people who stood up and demanded to be heard.
I then created a series of posters that could be used to advertise the exhibition, as well as some other promotional material. I used archive images of the battle and focused on the colour read as it represents the rage and passion that was felt across the nation as a result of the massacre.
